Evaluation of Chemical Treatments for Managing Sheath Blight Disease of Rice in Field Condition

Abstract. Yield losses due to this sheath blight (Rhizoctonia solani, Kuhn) disease are reported to the range from 5.2-50% depending on various factors. Disease management in rice is largely depending upon chemicals. In the present investigation efficacy of different chemicals (fungicide) were studied. The experiment was conducted following Randomize Block Design(RBD) with 10 treatments including control.Each treatment was replicated thrice adopting a plot size of 4m × 2m where plants were spacedat 15cm × 15 cm. The effects of 9 different chemicals were recorded against sheath blight incidence and compared to control for consecutive 3 years. Spraying of Tabuconazole 1ml/l was found to be most effective in suppressing sheath blight .In spiteof reducing PDI chemicals were also effectivein increasing yield over control. Validamycin 1ml/l recorded highest yield (44.78 q/ha) followed by carbendazim (41.62 q/ha) and tebuconazole(41.06 q/ha).
